​Below is a summary of the guiding legislation, regulations and government directives affecting CCACs.



  1. CCAC Legislation and Regulation

    Community Care Access Corporations Act, 2001 - establishes CCACs as corporate entities and provides for the CCACs' mandate, governance and accountabilities.

    O. Reg.  554/06 Community Care Access Corporations

    Home Care and Community Services Act, 1994 (formerly the Long-term Care Act, 1994) - sets out the rights of clients, defines the basket of services and addresses complaints and appeals.  Regulation 386/99 under the Home Care and Community Services Act sets out the eligibility criteria for CCAC services and defines the maximum levels of nursing and personal support/homemaking services that can be provided to an individual.

    Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007 addresses the designation and responsibilities of CCACs as the placement coordinator for long-term care homes and outlines eligibility, priority for access, wait list management, admission and discharge.

Excellent Care for All Act, 2010 – regulations are anticipated that name CCACs as health care organizations for the purposes of the Act.
